Amazon was awesome, and shipped it on the 19th, so I got it on the 21st.

Hmm...I can see that as a part of it. But I'm wondering what the history between the two is. If I'm remembering the memory that Harry saw right, Hendricks was there with Marcone when the little girl, whose name escapes me, was shot and that was when he was fighting for control, so they've been together for years now.

But yes, I can see Marcone as being the devil you know, lesser of two evils choice for Hendricks as well as Harry. Actually, what might be fun is a story where another gangster tries to move in on Marcone's territory, and Harry helping Marcone out (reluctantly), because the other gangster would be so much worse.

Hendricks' thesis must be explained! It's one of those little details that we must know, like his first name.

Hmm...actually, you could read this without reading Turn Coat or Changes. It's totally Marcone, and so not spoilery for either, nor is there any information that you wouldn't understand for lack of reading those two first.

But yeah, you really need to read those two. Changes is....yeah. So much.Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09002997517784638068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5080372433953859587.post-9911480084187627842010-07-24T23:28:46.191-04:002010-07-24T23:28:46.191-04:00How do you have this already!? Did he put it up on...How do you have this already!? Did he put it up online all sneaky-like?

Not having read it, it's just a guess. But for why Hendricks keeps working for Marcone, I can see it be a similar thing to Harry letting him in on...the thing that I can't remember the name of right now. Magic-creatures-alliance-deal. And almost everything Harry does, really. It's sort of a running theme in the series that they don't live in a perfect world and compromises have to be made (or at least, are made) that they would rather not make. Working for Marcone is better than the alternative, because despite the distasteful things he does, he's made Chicago less dangerous overall.

But yeah. Marcone is completely awesome. And I also want to know what Hendricks' thesis is on. Fun details!

...I still have to read Changes. And Turn Coat, actually. Maybe I should do that before reading the short story.sanilhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07382787889525110718noreply@blogger.com
