I didn't have any comments to make! ...Susanne,

I didn't have any comments to make! :)

I think so. I think the idea, of course, being submission in all aspects of ones life to God. So it's not entirely that you would lose your individualism, but rather than it would be expressed in a way that served God. And that the perfect Muslim society would enable the individuals to do that without interference.Amberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09002997517784638068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5080372433953859587.post-9246059410373767942011-04-17T09:46:40.882-04:002011-04-17T09:46:40.882-04:00And where is your commentary on said passages? Hm...And where is your commentary on said passages? Hmm? Hmmm???

I read them with great interest and this tidbit with the "I" word took my attention quite a lot. What do you think of it?

"Salvation did not mean redemption from sin, but the creation of a just society in which the individual could more easily make that existential surrender of his or her whole being that would bring fulfilment."

I being "individual," of course, since I just wrote a post about this topic relating to Indian society. Does this mean an individual would surrender himself to the whole (God?) who would bring fulfillment to his life?

Lots of good stuff in those paragraphs! Much food for thought.

Islam is so much like Judaism in the build-a-society-on-earth thing.Susannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03115294023069458287noreply@blogger.com
