I'm at work and I have things (work things) to do, and I have things (not work things) that I want to do but which I cannot do because they 'not work things'. So I'm bored. Working, but half-heartedly. :)
My trainer, Julie Anne, has asked me to do a little 'success story' blurb for her. The health center she works at is updating their website and they're redoing the trainers' profiles with success stories from clients. And I'm both a success and a work in progress. So what should I include? I don't know how long to make it, etc. I'm up to abut 65 lbs lost at this point, and I've lost at least 4 sizes in pants/skirts. Tops are a bit harder because I am 'blessed'. *rolls eyes* So only a size or two there. But it's going, and I can feel the muscles under my skin, which is awesome.
Anyway. I've done this before but, since I'm *bored* and cannot do what I want to do for fear of someone important coming past my desk and catching me being naughty, random question time!
Susanne's the only one who ever plays my silly games, but that's okay.
Ask me something, anything. :)
What a fun idea. Two-parter!
ReplyDeleteIf you could instantly become an expert at any skill, what would it be?
If you knew working at a particular skill would eventually pay off, but would take a lot of time and work until then, what skill would you choose to develop?
sanil,
ReplyDeleteOkay!
If you could instantly become an expert at any skill, what would it be?
SCUBA diving. I just would love to be able to go diving and see the marine life from a completely new perspective.

Mmm....computer repair/something-or-other. I'm something of a technological cavewoman. It's not that I couldn't learn more advanced things, I just don't care. Even though it would pay off to know such things. So if I was going to pick a skill to work at I think this would be it.
Too bad I didn't respond to this earlier in the day when you were actually bored at work. I'm sure now you are enjoying a book or a movie or TV show!
ReplyDeleteYay for getting to write a success story for your trainer! That's awesome! I'd love to read it. :)
I think I asked a LOT of stuff last time you had one of these. Maybe I covered everything then, but how about your bucket list. Did I ask this? OK, pretend I did not if I did. What are a few things you'd love to do before you kick the bucket?
Also, what are the things you love the best about you? Why would someone want to be your friend? What are quirks...er, idiosyncracies that *might* drive people crazy? What is your best feature? What is your best personality trait? What would you change about yourself if you could? If you could have named yourself, what would you have chosen? Just as biblical names often have meaning loaded with description of the actual person, what name/meaning "fits" you? For example, are you a Sarah (princess)? Who from your past inspired you to be the person you are today? Who discouraged you? Who has given your life purpose and meaning? If you were to feel proud about something or someone in your life (or both) what or who would that be? How easily do you make friends in real life? Who have you been friends with the longest? How often do you see this person? Do you have a best friend or a number of "good" friends or neither? Do you feel you have someone in your life that you can share anything with? Do you? Or do you prefer keeping some things private even to your best friend?
Answer what you want. Ignore the rest. I didn't know I had more questions in me to ask you! These seem a bit deeper than the ones I asked last time! Hope you don't mind! :)
~ Susie, I think I could have been a journalist with all these questions
Susanne,
ReplyDeleteOne of the 'joys' of boredom at work is that there's five days worth of it. :)
It's supposed to be a little blurb, 10 - 20 sentences. I had to ask her because, like I told her, I can *write*. I need some parameters so I don't hand in a paper! :D I'll throw it up here when I've got it done.
1. Bucket list:
a. Meet Jim Butcher (my fave author) and manage not to embarrass myself before him!
b. Drive a race car (I love speed!)
c. skydive
d. Go see Great White's up close. Like...from a shark cage. So they can't eat me.
e. Get married and have mini-me's!
f. See the world. I want to go to other countries...
g. I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of them right now.
2. Favorite thing about me? Huh. I don't know. I don't think about me a lot. Hmmm...I like being smart. I enjoy being a smart-ass. No really, I do. :) I like my ability to retain random bits of information even though it means no one will play Trivial Pursuit with me anymore and I'm not allowed to watch Jeopardy with an audience.
3. Why would someone want to be my friend? I'm weird, but I'm loyal and fiercely so. I like to think I'm funny, if you get my humour, I'm pretty easy going and I love to do things with people that I love.
4. Hah! Ummm...I do not like people touching my stuff. I will *know* that they've been touched and it will drive me nuts. I don't share well. I actually get jealous of people who are friends with my friends. I'm not proud of that fact, but it's true. I don't go nuts about it, but I don't tend to get along with these people, mostly through no fault of theirs.
5. Best feature - My hair. I have very pretty hair, if I may say so myself. :)
ReplyDelete6. Personality trait? Ah, rapier wit. :D Or, no, most people wouldn't say that's my best personality trait. Let's go with loyalty to friends. I'm more than willing to crush people who upset those I love.
7. Change - my shyness. I wish I was more confident with strangers.
8. Name - I went through a phase as a kid where I wanted to be called Rose. I guess if I was going to change my name I'd either change it to Josephine, which was supposed to be my name or Catherine. I just like the name Catherine. :)
9. I don't know enough about the meanings of names to guess what would fit. 'Sarah' is definitely out. I'm not a princess and I wouldn't want to be. :D You tell me what would fit, Ms. Meaning of Names!
10. Inspired? My grandfather.
11. Discouraged? He Who Should Die in a Fire, a/k/a stepdad.
12. I give my life purpose and meaning. :p
13. Proud? I would be, and am, proud of my mother.
ReplyDelete14. I don't make friends very easily. I don't trust easily and I think to really be friends there needs to be trust. Plus, I'm shy around people I don't know at first.
15. My best friend and I have been friends since about middle school. So...14, 15 years?
16. I see her as often as we can. Our work schedules sort of clash, so it's hard. But we talk on the phone two or three times a week.
17. I have a best friend and then one or two 'good' friends and then everyone else.
18. No. Everyone I know, no matter how close we are, there's always something that I feel I can't share with them. It's sometimes different things for different people, but...I think it falls out to that trust issue I have again. I can't trust that people will still love me if they know everything about me.
Hah. You are a journalist, just an unpaid one. :D
Ahhh, finally I get to read and respond to these! You crack me up with your saying every day is a new chance to be bored...hahahahaaaaaaaaa! Yes, i can totally see you writing a whole paper so it's good that your trainer gave some guidelines on length! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the answers. I love the thought of little Ambers running around the world! :D
"I like my ability to retain random bits of information even though it means no one will play Trivial Pursuit with me anymore and I'm not allowed to watch Jeopardy with an audience."
Yes, I love this about you as well. That's one reason I love getting your opinion on things because you just know so dang much!
I love your sense of humor, by the way! I'm not sure I always get it since I'm so stinkin' old, but what I manage to get, I love! :)
" I actually get jealous of people who are friends with my friends. "
Ha, ha...ummm, that's rather cute though. :)
I just have a hard time thinking that you are shy with strangers. You come across so confident...like you are at ease in any situation. :)
Really loved all your replies! It's cute that you wanted to be Rose. It's my sister's middle name and she never really appreciated it. I'll have to think of a name that fits you...if
