So, about 12:30ish yesterday afternoon, did any of ya'll hear a really high pitched scream as glass shattered? That'd be me then. The preview for Limitless came on the screen and, ah, Bradley Cooper. So gorgeous.
And he's acting with DeNiro! How much do I love that? First he held his own with Liam Neeson (who, oh my, is just, well, hell, it's Liam Neeson. Do I need to say anything else?), and now DeNiro. Also, shut up. I love The A-Team and I don't want to hear anything about it. Haters to the left.
Next week, The Green Hornet! And, yeah, I expect fandom to erupt with Kato/Britt slash. I demand it!

Fandom - *Our* Character
I think this probably happens to every fangirl/boy. We pick a character, somehow, and they are *ours*. Our favorite, our focus. Our obsession. For those of us who have multiple fandoms, we get at least one in every fandom.
For me, it's the men. I don't know what that says about me from a psychological standing, but I've always preferred the male characters to the female. When I was younger, before I discovered fandom, etc. it was always the boy characters that I 'played' in my head. They were the ones I put myself into and wrote stories around in my mind.
I think there's probably a 'type' there, if I bothered to look for it. 'My' character, my point of view guy is strong, smart, sometimes smaller than the other guys. I won't get into the various pairings and who's with who and who I like topping who. I have my patterns.
Sometimes the pairings are weird. Like, why on earth would you pair them? weird. For instance, my biggest fandom (writing wise) to date is Anita Blake. I write Larry, and I tend to slash him with Asher. The weird factor there is that in the books, in the source material, the two of them have never met on page. Never. In my head, however, they are having a glorious and messy affair.
Most of the time they're just *there*. Sometimes the characters fight on screen/page in the source material, but there's this undercurrent. Like Marcone/Harry. I think they respect each other at the same time they are maybe not quite on the same side. Except they are, mostly. Even if Harry doesn't want to admit it. But that's a whole different problem. With Dresden Files, in spite of the whole, Harry is love thing, which exists, my guy is Marcone. I'm writing from Harry's pov, just because I don't think I could sustain Marcone's mindset for 50,000 words. And I like Marcone's motivations being mysterious until/unless he explains them.
Other times the pairings are not just there, but more along the lines of slapping you in the face. Like Arthur/Eames. Because they are very clearly having wild sex between scenes. They just are. Or Hannibal/Face on the A-Team. Come on! Those two are having crazy Ranger sex and you can't tell me they're not! Or Gibbs and DiNozzo. The headslaps are love!
And don't get me started on Supernatural. That shows basically an orgy in my head, with Dean in the middle.
Umm...sorry. I appear to have digressed. Moving on.
My point (assuming I even have one) is that I think fangirls/boys all latch onto one character and that character is *theirs*. Their pov, their love. And I kind of wonder what out choices say about us. Because if I have types and patterns then I think that everyone else must too.

For Love of Commas
LK do you remember a while back when you volunteered to beta my little Inception fic and you said that I 'really liked commas' or something to that effect?
At the time I was like, 'well, okay, maybe I went overboard on the commas on this one since it's been so long.'
I've been reviewing a couple of old, unfinished Anita Blake fics that I'm thinking of reworking for NaNoWriMo. And contemplating (with some bits here and there for aide in the contemplation process) an A-Team kink meme prompt that seems to be calling to me.
And holy crap you're right! I REALLY like to use commas! I've been doing it all along! I've had three or four different betas throughout my 'career' and none of them have ever mentioned it! I did have one who told me I liked to use '...' too much, which yeah, I did. But no one ever brought up the forest of commas!
So thanks! I'm even noticing that I do it when I'm typing up posts. I'm trying to cut back, really. But I have no idea when this twitch happened and it's apparently ingrained at this point.

Smallville S10E02 - Shield
First, just for the record, S.H.I.E.L.D. belongs to Marvel. So don't go there, please.
Also, I am almost a week behind on tv. I've been busy, and also watching the A-Team movie twice since I got ahold of it. What? H-BAMF is distracting.

Ack! Cat Grant! I can't stand you already! Oh, that's right, I didn't like you in the comics either...though I do feel bad about what happened with your son.
Is Clark gonna smack a bitch? Sadly, no.
You know, I really can't stand Tess. Or Chloe, for that matter. I hate that they've set her up as WatchTower/Oracle, but she's *not* Oracle, and I don't like her. And she should not be dating Ollie. He's supposed to have a terrible relationship with Black Canary!
Above comment about Carter Halls' scruffiness? Strike that. It was the sand disguising it.
Also, yeah. Carter may beat Lois into a pulp.
Lois is making with the crazy talk. It's scary that she doesn't know that Carter knows, but she's babbling at him anyway. Yep. Get her drunk! *lol* I was never a Hawkman fan, but I do like Shanks' version.
Deadshot? WTF? That was actively hilarious. Cat's look 'seatbelts save lives!' just before her car blows up? Right. Who was that villain?
He has the electronic eye for Deadshot, and the accuracy, but it's the cowboy theme that's throwing me.
And I win the villain lottery yet again! God I am GOOD! But *why* the cowboy outfit? I mean, I get that he can't run around in the red and white body suit from the comics, but cowboy? Is that *really* less conspicuous?
And she's wearing a bulletproof vest.
Who's Godfrey? Inquiring minds want to know. OldLex?
Why would someone on the run, in hiding, become a reporter for a newspaper as big as The Planet is supposed to be? It's a little showy.

Variations on a theme
How many shows/movies are just variations on the idea of the A-Team?
I can think of two off the top of my head and I'm sure there're more.
The Losers and Leverage. Granted, in Leverage they aren't actually innocent of the crimes they could be accused of, but it's the same idea.

Is Jim Butcher a Secret Supernatural Fan?
I can't believe I forgot to include this last night!

It's not the first time that fandoms have imitated each other. I think that American Gods is closely related to the serial killer convention from The Sandman comics. And Supernatural borrowed the cutest hell hound on earth from Gaiman's Good Omens for Yellow Fever, and the Hammer of the Gods ep was very echo-y of American Gods itself. And let's not forget Crowley! I don't care what you say, he's related to Crowley from Good Omens! You can't prove otherwise!

And unrelated to above, I finally watched Sunday's Leverage. It's Christian Kane singing! *sigh*
And Nate said, 'I love it when a plan comes together!' Oh, A-Team reference. You come so naturally in this show. I need a fic where the A-Team meets the Leverage team. I'm certain it exists. How could it not?
*ALSO* There is apparently a cap on how many labels one can use on a single post. What's up with that?
