The Library, Circa 2012

I think this'll probably be something of a yearly thing, pics of the library since a good, true library is a living, changing entity. :)

On to the pics!

First set of shelves, the ones that cover the whole wall. If you're very observant you'll notice that in the center row a lot has changed. For one, all my LKH books are gone. I have removed that particular boil from my life. So, yay! In addition, my Stephen King books are slowly leaving. I've realized that once I read them I don't feel the need to ever read them again. So I'm giving them to SBW at work who is a huge Stephen King fan whose late husband accidentally sold her entire collection right before he passed away.

Second shelves, beside the tv. I can't tell you how strangely good it feels to see the books rearranged. They're so pretty!

Under the tv. One of my hopes is that eventually when I've gotten rid of the books that I don't want that there will be room on the shelves for all my ghost and paganism books.

First closet, DVDs. It's really hard to get a picture of all the dvd's on that first shelf. It's so long and the closet is so narrow.

Moar dvd's in the first closet. This is also the comic book closet, but I didn't take pictures of the comics boxes this time. There's nothing much to see since everything is neatly stored in its box.

Shelf to the left of my bed.

Representative sampling of the books under the bed. I've got the first 52 volumes of the original Nancy Drew books under there, some Star Trek books, some Doctor Who books, a pop-up Stephen King book and manga. The manga that goes under there are series that are complete (like Inu-Yasha) or single volumes that I've read (like Romantic Illusions). I, again, have hopes of one day getting them all back on the shelves but for the time being this is the way it is.

Bookshelf at the foot of the bed.

Second closet, more dvds.

Second closet, the rest of the dvds. :D

And the final bookshelf with a little of the non-fiction there on the first row behind the row of manga and then, you know, manga. Also, Murdock is there because I couldn't leave him out.

  3. Pretty! I can't wait till I get my books all shelved. :) Doug keeps complaining that there's too many of them, but half the collection is still in my room at my parents' house!

    1. There is no such thing as too many books!

Okay, that's a lie. You can have too many books but as long as you have shelving and room for them, you haven't hit that point yet. :)

  4. Pretty bookies! ^_^ Is it rather sad that I can I.D. about half the books you own just by the blurry and distant view of the spines? : P Of course, we DO have a lot of books in common (Yay, "Romantic Illusions"!). I give you props for being able to purge LKH from your life. You are strong, you are invincible, you are allergic to LKH! : P I'm still off the wagon on that. Sadly, knowing the mess the series has become has spoiled the early books for me -- which I quite enjoyed and thought were a lot of fun, once upon a time. Anyhoo, once my books are all organized and pretty (so far only the manga are really organized, lol), I'll be posting photos to share in the book porn. : )

You think you can I.D. them, huh? Okay, you're on. Middle column on the first picture, middle row, twelfth book from the left. What book is it? ;)

I'm FREE! The LKH has been purged from my soul! *dances* Join me, it's lovely over here!

I can't wait to see your books! Spread the love!

    3. To the left of "The Historian" are Stephen King books, including "Black House" and what looks like "Thinner" (but not sure, camera glare), "The Poisonwood Bible" by Barbara Kingsolver, and the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella (who also writes as Madeline Wickham), and to the right of "The Historian" are Mercedes Lackey books.

    4. 100%! :D

For the record, Heather and I did a little lightning round of name that book last night and discounting the ones that she was unable to see clearly enough there was only 1 book that she missed. Very impressive!

    5. Thanks! ^_^ I have skills. Perhaps not very useful ones in the "real world", but still... skills. LOL I see you're well on your way to hitting your reading goal this year!

    6. Your skills are legendary in some circles!

Actually, I figured it out. I would need to read 25 books a month in order to hit the 300 book goal. So I'm behind!

  5. FYI, I need one of those tickers for my book reading this year.

    1. That counter is the easiest thing in the world to make. Just click on it and it takes you to the site for it. You'll see my ticker and then a button beneath it that says 'Create new counter' or something like that. Click and follow directions. Voila. :)

  6. Wow, impressive collection! I have about 2 shelves, but those are also my most favourite books, since I rarely buy any books at all, I get them all for the library. It's cheaper, and I really don't have the space for so many books.

    1. How do you live? ;) I'm not a fan of libraries. Loved them as a kid, but my issue is that I have to give the books back...I'm a hoarder. :D

  7. Mmm I hear you, but, like I said, really don't have the space. I've been living on 300 square feet (and less now) for years, and so you just really need to prioritise your space. I'm pretty certain I'll grow a library one day though :P

The libraries here are AWESOME as well, they have pretty much everything, and if they don't, they 'll often buy it for you if you ask them.
