Chuck favors the scorched earth approach to cleaning house

I did not make this macro. You can tell by how awesome it is. I found it on my comp, so I dl'd it from somewhere. And it bears *no* relation to this post!

I had a thought. Maybe this whole apocalypse thing was GodChuck cleaning house? The angelic hierarchy clearly misunderstood the concept of free will, which I believe he was trying to get them to use by his absence. So he had them removed from power, basically, and tested Castiel (giving him a crash course in human via Winchester), then when he passed the tests, gave him phenomenal cosmic powers and put him in charge of everything. (Also Chuck is clearly a Cas fanboy.) He knew that Michael and Lucifer would be unable to change (though I think he really was still giving them that last chance to come together as brothers) and so having them both in the pit gives them all of eternity to fight/make up. Plus, the Apocalypse can never happen again. It requires Lilith's death to open the cage, right? Well, she can only die once. So...problem solved. The Apocalypse happened, but didn't really happen. Loose end tied up. Major players (Azazel, Alistair, Lilith, the Horsemen (except for Death, who winds up being kind of cool)) have all been wiped from the board. I think humanity might be the best off supernaturally speaking it's been in millennium. Erm...I swear I had more thought to this, but I'm distracted by Gabriel on the tv. Oh! Also, gave Gabe a chance to 'come home' and redeem himself. Ish. Bring back Gabe!

Season 5 disc 1 fannish smoosh

Becky! I embrace you and your desire to feel up Sam! However, Dean is just perfect.

Nick. *hugs him*

'Nick. You're dreaming Nick. That doesn't mean this isn't real.'

'Sarah?'

'I'm not your wife Nick. I'm an angel.'

'An angel?'

'My name is Lucifer.'

'Sure. Naturally. Um, could you do a favor there, Satan, and remind me to quit drinking before I go to bed?'

'I'm here because you're special, Nick. There's very, very few people like you.'

'Is that so?'

'You're a vessel. A very powerful vessel.'

'Meaning what exactly?'

'I need to take control of your mind and your body. To be honest it'll probably be unpleasant for you. But it is necessary.'

'Okay. Look, if it's just the same to you, I think I'd like to wake up now.'

'I told you. This is real. Don't be afraid! This is your choice. You need to invite me in.'

'Even if this is real, which it's not, but assuming it was, why the hell would I do something like that?'

'People misunderstand me. They call me satan, and devil, but, do you know my crime? I loved God. Too much. And for that he betrayed me. Punished me. Just as he's punished you. After all, how could God stand idly by while that man broke into your home and butchered your family in their beds? There are only two rational answers, Nick. Either he's sadistic or he simply doesn't care. You're angry. You have every right to be angry. I am angry too. That's why I want to find him. Hold him accountable for his actions. Just because he created us doesn't mean he can toy with us like playthings.'

'If I help you, can you bring back my family?'

'I'm sorry, I can't. But I can give you the next best thing. God did this to you Nick and I can give you justice. Peace.'

'How do I know you're telling the truth?'

'Because contrary to popular belief, I don't lie. I don't need to. What I need, is you. Nick, I need you to say yes.'

'Then yes.'

Oh my god, this, and then the speech at the end between Lucifer and Michael. Also the Michael speech about free will and how it doesn't really exist! So much good writing. And the acting, which goes without saying.

*purrs* I know it's 'wrong', but I find demonDean very sexy. *waggles eyebrows* Of course I find regularDean sexy too, but whatever. Dean.

Hmmm...futureCas is awesome. 'Go clean up for the orgy.' Okay!

You know, I forgot or missed that the demons didn't intend for Jesse (miniAntiChrist) to be raised by people. They meant for the mother to remain possessed and be raised evil. So, uh, hey, guess what that looks like? Why yes, it's another similarity to Good Omens! I'd like Jesse to come back for a guest spot. He was adorable. Plus, he turned Cas into an action figure. I want a Cas action figure! Also Dean and Sam. Hell, just give us toys! *snorfle* The whoopee cushion! 'That was not me.' Utter deadpan. Ah, Misha.

edit: Oh, god, commentaries. I'm laughing so hard I think I burst something.

'I know what the devils problem is, noshutupis!'

Bobby = Awesome

GodChuck set up reality so that, at the end, it always had to be Dean and Sam, right? Of course, we know it didn't quite work out that way, but Dean = Michael, and Sam = Lucifer/Samael. The relationships, as far as we understand them, are extremely similar.

The difference is, Sam and Dean would rather disobey their fates, their orders, to save each other, to save the world. They love one another in a fundamental, necessary way. More than they ever loved anything or anyone else. I just watched the fight scene at the end of When the Levee Breaks, and then Bobby chewing Dean a new one at the beginning of Lucifer Rising.

Absentee father/God, check. Righteous older brother, check. Rebellious younger brother, check. Apocalypse should go off as scheduled, yes?

But then there's Bobby! He's humanity, for the boys. He slaps them upside the head, calls them idjits, and MAKES THEM be good.

So, yeah. Bobby saves the world.

Also, maybe Chuck set all this up so that Michael and Lucifer could have one last chance to reconcile?

Demon = Human Soul + Archangel Power

So I have this theory. It's based on one of the interviews I read in the SPN mag this month.

In it, whoever was being interviewed said something along the lines of demons being the result of mixing a human soul with angelic power. So that says to me that all the demons powers, their juice, comes from Lucifer (and maybe the other angels that fell with him? Or did they just get their Grace yanked and born as humans? What happened to that 1/3 of the host of heaven?).

Now, your run of the mill, average demon (with the wide spread and variety of their powers notwithstanding), has black eyes. More powerful demons get to have different colored eyes. The original crossroads demon that we meet has red eyes. Azazel's eyes are yellow. Lillith and Alistair's eyes are white.

My theory, such as it is, is that the closer the demon gets to the original source, the more powerful they become, the more 'angelic' in power level they hit, their eyes lighten in color. Given that Lucifer, outside of a host, is (as far as we can see) a bright, bright light (I saw a fic once, where Cas described himself as a highly intelligent sunbeam in his true form - sarcastically, of course), this makes some sense to me.

Have we ever seen Crowley's demon eyes? I don't remember. But I want them to be not-black. Because, if he's essentially, by default, in charge of Hell (everyone bigger and badder than him appears to be dead), then he should be fairly badass.
