Guess Where I Went Today

In clearly unrelated news, sales tables in the book store are bad for me.

  1. Gee, I have no idea! You are an enigma. :D

Also, did you not already own Good Omens???? Or did you just pick up a new copy for a different cover or something?

(Heh, "lizeroni" is my word verification. That is either an awesome nickname or a disgusting pizza topping.)

  2. I am a mystery wrapped in an enigma!

Uh...actually, I already owned two copies of Good Omens (different covers). The new one is the audio book!

My first thought: would lizeroni be kosher? Since peperoni isn't. This could be a huge breakthrough in the food market! Or not. You know. Whichever.

Mine is 'epotymi'. I must assume this is the plural of 'epotamus'.

  3. Lizeroni - It sounds to me like it would be pepperoni made of lizards. Which are not kosher, so no.

  4. That's what I was thinking too, that it would be pepperoni made out of lizards. Why aren't lizards kosher?

    Going to bed now...

captcha is iddyl. I think that one's self explanatory

  5. I'm pretty sure (but it's been awhile and I could be wrong) that it's because they don't fit neatly into the acceptable categories. They didn't have separate groups for reptiles or mammals, just for animals of land, sea, and sky. The only acceptable land animals are ones that have split hooves and "chew the cud." So lizards and rodents and other things with toes instead of hooves are off-limits. The way my professor interpreted it, they were forbidden because they were weird, like fish without scales or fins (also forbidden).

  8. sanil,

I would totally eat a lizard if it was cooked up right. :)

Somewhere, someone was made lizeroni. I am sure of it.

  9. LK,

No, we don't have a borders. BAMM, and I left some books behind!

Good Omens is incredible, and you should read it when you get the chance. It is my favorite book, hands down. I love the DF, but Good Omens is the best single book ever. Ever.

  11. Library used book sales are even more dangerous!

  12. Anna,

One of the nice things about the bookstore in town is that they sell used books from libraries all over the area. I've lost hours on those tables. :D

  13. I bought tons of books when Borders was going out, LOL. Looking at your picture... I have "Finder" and "Tyrant" (love them both!). Let me know if you like "Author's Pet" and if the art is good. Sucky art = I don't buy, no matter how good the story is. : P I also have "Shadow of the Swords".

  14. Heather,

I wish we'd had a Borders in the area so I could have bought all their things.

Oh god, Finder. I love that series with an unhealthy love. I can't wait for vol. 5 to come out. It's not just the sex (which is fabulous), but the art and the story are all incredible too.

Tyrant, I've just read the first volume. I enjoyed it and I'll pick up vol. 2 when I get the chance.

Author's Pet was enjoyable. I liked the art, though I didn't think it was as good as the art in Finder or some of the other manga I've read. But it was good and the stories were cute. I actually went looking for a manga called Black Sun (yaoi set during the Crusades), but I can't find vol. 1 anywhere.

Shadow of the Swords looked good, it was on sale, and it's by the same guy who wrote Mother of the Believers.
