What Book Should I Read Next?

So, since I only read one chapter of the Bible a morning, I have a little extra reading time every morning. What I do is I read my nonfiction books. I've been reading Let Us Attend, but I've almost finished that, and I'm trying to decide what to read next. Here're the ones I'm considering:

Sacred Doorways: A Beginner's Guide to Icons - Linette Martin

For the Life of the World - Alexander Schmemann

Bread & Water, Wine & Oil: An Orthodox Christian Experience of God - Archimandrite Meletios Webber

What do you think?

  2. Hmmmm, they all sound pretty interesting, but I can't judge a book by it's title! Read 'em all and let us know what you learned from them. :)

  3. Okay, one vote for Icons, and one vote for EVERYTHING! *PS, Susanne, very unhelpful! ;-) I have all the books, and of course I'll read them all, I just need to pick which one first! :)* Thus far, Icons wins, but voting continues until I go to bed tonight...

  7. Well, since at the time I only had two votes, I flipped a coin. Bread & Water, Wine & Oil won. :) But, of course, when I finish this book, I'll read one of the other two.

  8. For the Life of the World is awesome, content-wise, if you can wade the Schmemann's writing. (He really was a better lecturer than writer.) I recall that the chapter in that book on the Eucharist really really set me on fire.

  9. Hmm...I do recall that when I glanced at it the writting style seemed a bit 'thick', but I'm looking forward to reading it. Maybe next. :)
