2011 Books

Right, it's only about 5:30 here but I'm not going to get another book read before midnight.

So here's the count and list for 2011:

Final count: 186

The goal for next year is 300, as you can see by the little ticker I've got at the top of the blog. I don't think I'll make it, but that's the goal. And since my TBR 'pile' is 589 books strong I've got plenty to choose from.

  1. cool I wish I could read along with you but I could not keep up.

44 and 46 I have read and enjoyed. also have been given 106 janet evanovich. But I have to read all the others again before I read it. It is a thing I make myself do.

I am rereading all of the harry potters. I have ordered the blue ray box set so I cant watch the film till I have read the book.

Have you read Garth Nix? I have picked up and put down 2 of his books. they seem to take an AGE to read.

  4. Sol,

That's a problem that I have! I want to join like book clubs and such where everyone reads the books and discusses what they think but they move too slowly for me. I've finished the book before anyone else in the group is even halfway through. So I've given up on that.

44&46 - I really enjoy that whole series. Kim Harrison writes some very interesting and dynamic characters and the world building is lovely. I especially like her take on the pixies.

106 - Evanovich is just plain fun. Some series I will reread when the new book comes out (Gabaldon, for example) but with Evanovich I don't really need to. Did you know there's a movie coming out based on the first book in the Stephanie Plum series? It's due out Jan. 27th here.

Harry Potter! I'm looking forward to rereading those when I get there.

I haven't ever read any Garth Nix, no. I'm not usually that into YA fiction unless it's been *heavily* recommended by people whose tastes I trust.

  6. Garth Nix' Abhorsen trilogy ("Sabriel", "Lirael", "Abhorsen") is really quite excellent fantasy, not just YA fantasy. I recommend it. So, you tackle "Sabriel" and I'll get "Jane Eyre". Deal, Amber? ^_^

I read "Sabriel" again last March. Seeing your list reminds me that I need to post my own, Amber!

  7. Heather,

Deal. I'm in the middle of reading a book on Murdock right now but as soon as I finish it Sabriel will be the next one I grab. :)

  8. Wow, what a list, you are INSANE (I mean that in the nicest possible way).

Although I am nowhere NEAR reading as many books as you are, I do have the same problem with bookclubs. I rarely take more than a week to finish a book, which apparently is waay too fast.

  9. I own my own insanity. :D

Bookclubs move too slowly! It's good to know I'm not alone there.

  10. hello Amber,

I got here from Becky's blog and took me a moment to collect my jaw from the floor! i mean HOW on earth do you read so many books a day? I mean HOW? :D
i'm trying to get myself on track with my reading but because it's been a while i find myself reading more slowly :/ did you take any courses in speed reading?

    1. Hi! and welcome to the blog.

I've never taken any speed reading courses, no. I just sort of read constantly. I always have a book with me so whenever I have a free minute I read. :)
