It's not paranoia if it's true...

Yes, hello, probably going to creep people out again. Sorry. But this creeps me out, if it makes you feel any better.

I love horror movies, ghosts, ghoulies, you name it, I love it. I've kind of gotten inured to even really being scared by them.

However, one thing that still creeps me out and makes it hard for me to sleep:

Aliens.

Not the mean, nasty kind from the movie Aliens, or even Predator, or the Blob, but real, true, 'based on an actual story' aliens. Alien abduction.

The movie Fire in the Sky? I still can't watch it alone.

This new movie The Fourth Kind? The commercials creep me out! (Yes, I'm going to go see it, because it's *true* and I have to know what happens, but I'm not going to sleep that night.)

I have to have curtains that totally cover and block sight through my windows. I *don't* look out my windows at night (because I just know one of these times there's going to be an alien looking back in at me...).

So there you have it.

Aliens terrify me.

  1. Is it true-true, or true like the Freddy Krueger movies are true? (They were based on a real news story about kids dying in their sleep. I was assuming The Fourth Kind was like this, based on things that were said in the study rather than actual known events.)

Aliens don't freak me out too much. It's not that I don't think they're real, it's just that they don't seem to be real into hurting people. The fact that we hear about people who say they were abducted means that if their stories are true, it's also true that they came back safe and sound. I can live with that.

  2. Supposedly true-true.

I don't know, there's just something about being abducted and experimented on...and maybe not even really remembering it but having trauma from it, and then remembering...

    *shudder*

  4. Upon further review, The Fourth Kind is apparently more fake-true, a la The Blair Witch Project or Paranormal Activity.

    Nonetheless, I find it creepy.

  6. Gonna go out on a limb here, and folks may think that I am a bit nutty...but what the heck.

I think that aliens are demonic in origin. I don't watch the movies about them and I don't debate their existence with folks... I think that the devil likes it when all those sacary movies come out an folks flock to them. I never understood wanting to be scared to death!

That's just my two cents...sorry if you think I'm nuts

  7. Alana,

Probably for the best. To be honest, most horror's stopped freaking me out. I think I may have broken something....

  8. Mamajuliana,

We're all a bit nutty here, so the company's good, at least. :)

You're not the first person who's told me that they believe aliens are demonic in origin. It's a perfectly valid point of view, and I can understand where you get that idea. I'm more up in the air about it, and tend to think of them as creatures from another planet, but I could be wrong. And, as I've said, the 'true'/true alien abduction/visitations are the one thing that still give me nightmares.

I can't explain the draw of horror movies. They don't scare me anymore, but I still love to go see them. *shrug* Maybe (in the beginning) it was the thrill, the knowledge that I was doing something 'grown up' and then the adrenaline from being scared?

But I know plenty of people who believe that the whole thing is evil and should be avoided.

  9. I am still having quakes over the floating picture lady... shudder... I cant watch X files on my own... and as for anything with aliens well.... which is odd really cause I'm such a big fan of Star Trek... and even the Ferengi form hold no fears....

I was wondering the other day just when the Klingon's got their brow ridges... cause they are certainly not present in the orginial series.

  10. I'm still sorry! :)

I think there's a huge difference between the 'good' aliens on tv, and the scary ones. The scary ones are almost realistic. It's sort of a fine line...

The Klingon's had their brow ridges in the ST:TOS movies. And they just grew from there. Every so often, one of the Treks 'goes there', with the comparison between the TOS and the later Klingon's, and it's always 'something the Klingon's DON'T TALK ABOUT' :)
