We need food, water, shelter - to survive. We may *think* we need tv, cars, yadda, but we don't really. We want those things, but they're not needs. They make our lives easier, but we'd survive without them.
So, to say that God needs anything is just...it's just wrong. God is God, He doesn't *need*.
I'm with you on this. God doesn't need anything, even love from us.
