Baby It's Cold Outside

Or, any excuse to wear hijab will do!

I know I gave up covering because I can't be certain why I was doing it. Because I have poor body image or because God wants me to? Until I can answer that for sure I can't go back to covering full time. But I still love hijab, I really, really do. I love the way it looks. On other people, honestly. But then again I rarely like the way I look in anything. Though I did love the way I looked in niqab. You couldn't see me! *sigh* Issues, I know.

But I do miss my scarves. And now that it's in the 30s here at night and in the morning? Hijabi me!

  1. I'm the same: I love my scarves. but for some reason ever since I've had kids my body heat regulation whatever (systems?? lol) don't work properly and I overheat in a snap. So I have to wait until winter before I can wear my head scarves. In summer I'm lucky if I can cover for a day here and a day there. It's weird!!

Check out the "Poet Hood" at www.victoriantradingco.com I bought them and I love them!! I use the white one for Mass on Sundays. And yep, I overheat like crazy unless it's chilly. arrrrg

  2. Very nice! What a pretty scarf. I'm glad you had a chance to wear it again. I was so cold, I wore a toboggan and scarf yesterday. It was my own "hijab" in a way. ;) I even took pictures.

Are you enjoying these colder temperatures? Brrrrrr.

  3. Michelle,

I've heard that pregnancy can change a lot of things that just never go back to the way they were before. I know one person who can't eat lettuce anymore. She used to love it and now the taste makes her nauseous. Weird, yet true. :)

Oooh...that site is dangerous! So very many nice old fashioned things! *puts on resolved face* Nope. Nope. I'm behaving!

  4. Susanne,

Hee. Did it look like that one pic from Syria? Where you were playing dress up? ;)

And no. I don't like the cold. There are many reasons that I still live in Florida!

  7. You always make me laugh when you refer to that picture from Syria! In fact I incorporated that and this post into my latest. :)

  8. Heather,

Hah! Thank you. I saw a purple tiger stripped scarf in the store yesterday and thought of you. :) I almost bought it, but I was good. If it's still there next time I go it's mine though!

*grin* My shelves are gorgeous, aren't they? *pets the books*

  10. Love the scarf! I use cold as an excuse for hijab too - I love it but don't want to he wearing it full time right now. The purple is really gorgeous.

About pregnancy or giving birth, it's so true! For me it has been my sensitivity/emotion for even dumb things! I tear up on watching commercials and can feel emotional from hearing or giving good advice: it's really crazy because I was known as "cold" and still am really.

  12. Candice,

It's a really pretty scarf. I have a couple in the same pattern in different colors. Right now I'm grabbing a different one every morning just so I can wear the pretties again! :)

It's the hormones! I've observed this from the outside - it's like they rewrite something. And the changes can be so unpredictable.
