Budding Miniature Obssession

*blinks at dashboard* according to it, this is my 700th post. What now? Really?

Anyway.

I was googling miniatures the other day, for a sekrit fangirly thing and now I find myself sort of, um, fascinated by them. By the Victorian doll house kind and all the little tiny things that go in them.

I do not need a Victorian doll house just so I can buy tiny things to go in it.

WHY ARE TINY THINGS SO CUUUUUUUUUUTE?

  1. Woo hoo...yippee for 700 posts! I think you need a collection and I'd like to see what you get. So there. :)

  2. Oh, I linger for a long time in the miniatures/doll house section of Hobby Lobby myself.

I like to dream that when I'm a grandmother, I will have fancy victorian doll house for my grandkids to play with (gently, of course). But then, I also want a house with an indoor slide going from upstairs to downstairs...for the grandkids when they visit, of course. ;-) (and no, I'm nowhere near that phase of life. But dreams of future grandbabies is what gets us moms through the surly teenage years of our children.)

  3. Alana,

They've got a weird allure. I just keep wandering back and looking at all the tiny things. They're really very clever, too.

Hah! Yes, the slide is totally for the grandkids. I believe you.

  4. Congrats on the 700 posts! I love tiny things as well, and my Mum even more so! She actually collects them, she has one "nice" doll house, and then one that's more sturdy which my nephew gets to play with (he's 3). It's just insane how pricy those little things get!

  5. Yeah, see, I'd get a dollhouse and say, oh, when I have kids they can play with it. And then have kids and have to move the thing into a locked vault or something because I'd be afraid they'd break something.

The cost of those tiny things! I've been looking, just, you know, looking. Some of them are insane! I get that there's a lot of delicate work involved, and I appreciate it and all, because most of it is crazy detailed and beautiful, but wow. It is not a cheap hobby.
