Doing Things Alone

I don't do things alone. I mean, aside from necessities, and even then I put them off as long as I can. But I don't like to go to the movies by myself, or shop, or eat out. And that's actually becoming annoying, because, for instance, I want to eat at this one deli. It makes sense for me to do so. I work out on Sunday and I need to eat lunch right afterward, right before I go to the movies. This deli is a very healthy place, so it's a much better option than any of the other restaurants in the area or eating mall/movie theater food.

But I haven't been going because I don't have anyone to go with me.

Well, screw that. I am determined to go eat my lunch Sunday in this deli. By myself. And screw anyone who thinks that I'm some weird lady, eating all by herself. *flips the imaginary people judging her off*

Also, just for the record, if either Donald Trump or Sarah Palin gets elected president next year? I'm going to need a viable other country to move to. Just putting it out there.

  1. But if you're already planning to go to the movies, that probably means you're already meeting someone that day. Couldn't they come a little earlier and eat lunch with you? Either way, yay! I hope you have fun and enjoy the food. :)

Also, ditto the last paragraph. Especially for Trump. *shudders*

  2. Well, yes. :D And I'm going to invite them. However, I'm just saying that I have to eat lunch every Sunday, and they may not want to do that every Sunday. So if not, I'm going by myself anyway!

    He's scary!

  3. I'm not a fan of doing things alone, but I just spent a whole vacation alone and it was a really spirit-enriching experience for me. I've found that if I treat anything I'd otherwise feel uncomfortable with as a mindfulness exercise, I get to go to cool places and enrich my prayer life! If your friend can't go with you Sunday, maybe try praying about what you're eating à la Thich Nhat Hanh?

  4. If you dont like eating alone bring a book. I never feel awkward with a book lol.

  5. Get a sandwich and sit outside and watch people. Or read as LK suggested. I'd do it.

Didn't you used to attend church alone? Maybe that's why you quit! You are not a loner! I find that cute really. I prefer shopping alone.

  6. Allie,

    Hi there!

That's a very good suggestion. I may try that.

*googles Thich Nhat Hanh because she has no idea what it is* And you've now lost me to the wilds of new information. I'll be back later...

  7. slice,

I've tried that. But there's really nowhere to sit and eat it. And I can't just have a sandwich. I have to replace my protein really quick (as per my trainer) and a sandwich just doesn't cut it.

  8. LK,

*lol* I am never without a book. Never. :)

  9. Susanne,

Can't. Nowhere to sit and do that and a sandwich isn't enough food. *shrug* I'll go with the book option, for sure. :)

Yes, I did. Because I have no choice. I have no one to go with me! I am an island of theological desire in a sea of people who don't care! Hence my problem with going to the mosque, remember? No one to be brave with me!

  10. LOL! I'm kinda the opposite. I go most places alone, so I really enjoy it when I have a friend who can go out with me. :)

  11. *lol* Well, if I did the things I wanted to do I'd be doing a lot of things alone. But I don't, so I just don't do them!

  12. It's funny, I'm pretty much the opposite I often prefer to do things by myself.

Maybe with the exception to go to new and "scary" places where you have to interact with other people. As for the movies and cafés, restaurants and such I'm fine :)

Try it, I bet it won't be as bad as you think :)

  13. I just have this feeling that people are looking at me, wondering why I'm alone! I know it's not true, but it's how I feel. :)

  14. Yeah, but I think you answered yourself already, it's not true ;)

  15. Ah, but there's a difference between knowing something in my head and knowing it in my lizard brain.

  16. I think everyone's got that issue to some degree. Mine just happens to be annoying and kind of restricting at times.
