Biblegateway only has Protestant translations, which I think is the issue. I checked one of my Catholic Bibles and it only has three chapters too, but the Orthodox Bible I use has four. Anyway, if you'd had the 'extended edition', you verse would have been:
'And I shall avenge their blood and shall not let it go unpunished. The Lord shall dwell in Zion.'
How interesting that the Orthodox version has an extra chapter! Thanks for that info. And yeah I tend to use Protestant versions...I didn't think that would be a surprise. :)
*snort* Not a surprise, no. :p I didn't realize that the version of Joel in other Bibles was missing a chapter either. I don't own any Protestant translations and I haven't been using my Catholic Bibles for quite some time. And I don't use Biblegateway unless I'm at work or something and can't look in my actual Bible.
I use Biblegateway when I'm writing posts and/or need to look up verses for comments. (Copy and paste is easier than typing!) I don't regularly read from it since I have Bibles here. Just to clarify my Biblegateway position and usage. :)
No fourth chapter either so I'll just take the last verse of the first chapter.

the streams of water have dried up
and fire has devoured the open pastures.
Really? My Book of Joel has four chapters...
ReplyDeleteOn Biblegateway where I looked it only had 3 - weird.

ReplyDeleteIt is very convenient that way! But since it's a different version from mine, it's my last resort.
